Spiced Heart Necklaces

What you'll need:
- 1 bag M&M’S® Brand Milk Chocolate Candies for Valentine’s Day
- 1 bag DOVE® Brand Rich Dark Chocolate Hearts
- 1 18-oz. roll refrigerated sugar cookie dough
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 16-oz. can vanilla frosting
- Food coloring, various
- 12 24-inch ribbon strands
- Straw
- Cookie sheets
- Resealable plastic bags
- Printable template (or heart-shaped cookie cutter)
What to do:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line the cookie sheets with parchment paper.
- Knead the cinnamon and flour into the sugar cookie dough until smooth. Roll out to a scant 1/4-inch thickness. Using the printable template or cookie cutter, cut out the heart shapes, re-rolling the scraps if necessary. Using a straw, press out 2 holes at the top of each cookie (use the photo as your guide).
- Transfer the hearts to the cookie sheets and bake for approximately 12-17 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven, transfer to a wire rack, and let cool completely.
- Divide the frosting into 4 small cups. Tint 3 cups of frosting in your desired colors, leaving one cup white. Spoon the frostings into individual, small re-sealable plastic bags. Snip a small hole in a corner of each bag. Pipe poems, wishes or sweet sayings onto the hearts. Decorate with randomly arranged M&M’S® Brand Milk Chocolate Candies for Valentines Day, attached with frosting. Set aside at least one hour to allow the frosting to firm up.
- When set, lace the ribbon through the holes. Present this very special heart to your Valentine to wear all day!
Tip: If you want to send these special hearts, use royal icing instead of frosting. You can follow your own recipe, or buy a meringue mix, which will have the instructions.
