Cutie-Bug Piñata
A lively activity for birthday parties or get-togethers: make it...then break it! The kids will love all the treats!
Prep time: 120 min.
Decoration time: 60 min.
Difficulty: Challenging
What you'll need:
- An assortment of your favorite Mars candies, including SNICKERS®, MILKY WAY®, TWIX®, 3 MUSKETEERS® Brand Miniatures and M&M'S® Brand Chocolate Candies FUN SIZE®
- Balloons
- Flour
- Newspaper strips
- Water
- Bowl
- Glue
- String
- Crepe paper
- Tape
- Scissors
What to do:
- Blow up a balloon to begin making your piñata; you can later decorate it to be a fruit, flower or caterpillar. (For a caterpillar, use three or four balloons and tape them together.)
- In a bowl, combine equal parts flour and water to form a paste.
- Dip the newspaper strips in the paste and run them between your fingers to remove the excess paste.
- Cover the balloon completely with the strips and allow to dry for two hours.
- Pierce the balloon with scissors to create a small hole.
- Tie a large knot in your string and feed it through the hole—make sure it is long enough to hang your piñata from.
- Pierce the bottom of the piñata and cut out three sides of a square for the "trapdoor".
- Fill the piñata with your favorite candy and tape the trapdoor shut securely.
- Decorate using crepe paper and glue.
