Brownie Turtle Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate
  • 1/4 cup solid vegetable shortening
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cup pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup M&M’S® MINIS® Milk Chocolate Candies
  • 3/4 cup prepared chocolate frosting

Directions

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • 2. Lightly grease cookie sheets; set aside.
  • 3. Heat chocolate and shortening in 2-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until melted; remove from heat.
  • 4. Mix in sugar, vanilla and eggs.
  • 5. Blend in flour, baking powder and salt.
  • 6. For each cookie, arrange 3 pecan halves, with ends almost touching at center, on prepared cookie sheets.
  • 7. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto center of each group of pecans; mound the dough slightly.
  • 8. Bake 8 to 10 minutes just until set; do not over bake.
  • 9. Immediately remove cookies to wire racks to cool completely.
  • 10. Top each cookie with frosting; press M&M’S® MINIS® Milk Chocolate Candies into frosting to create turtle shell.
