Backyard Camping Turn your party into a sleepover! Before the party begins, set up several tents in the backyard. Give each tent a campy camp name, like Camp Togomogo or Camp Wigglewoggy. Paint each name on a flag and attach them to the top of the tents. Then write the camp names on strips of paper and let kids draw from a hat to see which tent they'll be sleeping in.
Living Room Campground You can have a great camping party even if it rains! Simply decorate the walls with paper trees and grass, and tape floating green and brown balloons all over the house. Then hang sheets from the living room ceiling for a great indoor tent! Finally, for a fun activity, try an indoor nature walk. Hide pictures of animals and their tracks (cut from construction paper) around the house and see if the kids can spot them!
Rock Monsters Collect a pile of medium-sized rocks and rinse them off. When the kids start arriving, let them choose a rock and have them decorate it with paint, googly eyes, fuzzy hair and pipe cleaners. Set each rock aside to dry. When the party is over, each child will have a rock monster ready to go home with them!
